What is an anchor text?

The next article is about what is an anchor text:

Anchor text is the visible piece of a hyperlink that is clickable. Anchor text is usually just a few words so that you can understand where the link will bring you when clicked. Some browsers will show anchors texts defferently but most of the major browsers will show you the full word and not “click here” or “link”.

An anchor text is used by the search engine algorithms and is weighted (ranked) because the linked text is more than likely related to the landing page.

What are backlinks?

Being active in social media I receive different e-mails from people who just started online. This is the reason for considering necessary to publish some articles about basic terms. This one is about backlinks:

Backlinks are links that normally have an anchor text and they point towards your site giving you authority and popularity in the eyes of all the Major Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, and MSN.

Backlinks originally came about as a means of website navigation. Once the Search Engines picked up backlinking, backlinks turned into a staple for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to get a website ranked higher.

No one knows to much about the Google Algorithm, but what we do know is that backlinks definitely help your website rank much higher in the major search engines. Getting a vast amount of backlinks over time is an indication of website popularity or the popularity of a page within your website. Also the pagerank of your backlinks is a factor in determining how important your site is.

4 Major Reasons to Market Online

Today I found a very interesting article about 4 major reasons to market online:

Here are 4 major reasons why the Internet should be a significant part of your overall marketing strategy:

Reason # 1: People Are Spending MORE Money Online

According to a comScore research report, the number of people actually searching for products and services online increased by 21% in 2008. So the Internet is a growing trend and more and more of your prospects and customers likely to look for you
online.

It’s convenient and a great way for them to save time and often save money too. Remember that a lot of people are time-poor in today’s hectic 24/7 society. Having more people searching for your product and service is one thing. The important question is: are they spending more money online? A comScore study reported that US e-commerce spending in 2008 reached a staggering $214.4 billion – a 7% increase over the previous year. So importantly, more people are spending more money online too – they’re not just lookie-loos and information seekers. They’ve got cash to spend and they’re going to spend it online
somewhere the only question is: will it be with you or your competitors? And the most popular search engine? Continue reading “4 Major Reasons to Market Online”

My first meeting with Hed Kandi

I love buying CD’s and vinyls. I also download (only legally) music but nothing compares with the joy of buying a new record for my collection. It was a rainy afternoon, a few year back in London when I spotted in one of the Virgins (Virgin Megastores) a stilish CD cover which was different from all the others. Hed Kandi? Hm! I always try new stuff so I bought it immediatly. In the same afternoon I listened it on my laptop. Next thing in the morning I bought another 3 compilations and I became addicted to Hed Kandi music, spirit … Continue reading My first meeting with Hed Kandi

The Survivor Effect–It Couldn’t Happen To A More Deserving Spot

One of my favorite places on earth will be getting a lot of positive attention starting later this month when “Survivor” begins filming its 21st season in and around San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. Then, for 14 weeks this fall, some 13 million U.S. households will tune in to CBS every Wednesday night to watch 20 Survivorists tromp around the Nicaraguan jungles.

This is a big deal for a little country like Nicaragua. I’ve seen the effects of this kind of thing in the past. When “Temptation Island,” for example, aired its Isla Bonita season filmed on Ambergris Caye, Belize, suddenly, overnight, this outpost of divers and fishermen was a household name.

The Temptation Island Effect created a new and higher-end (US$1 million-plus) market on this formerly unnoticed Caribbean island, the vestiges of which I viewed recently. All along Ambergris’ white-sand coast today are condo developments built to supply the Temptation Island viewers who, having been introduced to this island paradise in prime time, wanted to claim a little piece of it for themselves. How cool it became to be able to say, “I’m going down to spend a week on the beach at my place on Ambergris Caye…you know, the island off Belize where ‘Temptation Island’ was filmed…”

Back Home In The City Of Light

We’re moving slowly this morning.

After about 18 hours of travel, we arrived at Charles de Gaulle to find (quelle surprise) the French airport workers were en greve (that is, on strike). We waded through hundreds of people to make it to the immigration line…where we waited more than an hour to be admitted to the country.

Then, outside, we joined those same hundreds of people waiting for taxis to take us all into the city.

Then, on the highway…mon dieu…rush-hour traffic. Another hour-and-a-half later, we arrived finally at the little apartment on rue de Verneuil that the kids, traveling with us, remember as home.

The Hundred Thousand Dollar Dentist Visit: Money From Viral

A seven-year-old kid goes to the dentist to have a tooth removed and feels woozy as the anaesthetic gradually wears off. Dad records his kid’s verbal ramblings for two minutes. Video ends up on YouTube in January 2009. It goes viral.

Just over a year later the Dad has a thriving internet business off the back of one video shot on a camera phone.  True story.

Who are these people? Where did they come from? What was the dad’s motive for filming his son in this state? And how did this translate into a hundred thousand dollar money-making marketing venture?! Let’s find out.

First, somewhat confusingly, father and son have the same name: David DeVore. So, from this point on, we’ll call them David Sr and David Jr. The DeVore’s are from Orlando, Florida and David Sr’s line of work revolved around real estate.

What was the inspiration?

David Jr had been suffering from hyperdontia– the presence of an extra tooth. David Sr filmed the footage to reassure his wife (who was involved in a meeting) that the dental procedure had gone to plan and there was no reason to be unduly concerned. He posted his findings (to his friends’ amusement) on Facebook, and then later on YouTube. His. Very. First. Post.
