Tinchy Stryder at Manx Telecom Isle of Man Bay Festival 2011

Tinchy Stryder will be one of the artists which will put on fire the scene on the 18th of June at Manx Telecom Bay Festival 2011. More details about the festival and tickets here.

Kwasi Danquah (born 14 September 1986), better known by his stage name Tinchy Stryder, is a British rapper.
He rose to popularity with the song “Take Me Back” which peaked at Number 3 on the UK Singles Chart in January 2009. He then released the aptly named song “Number 1”, (a collaboration with N-Dubz) which entered the UK chart at Number 1 on 26 April 2009. Stryder lately released “Never Leave You” with Amelle Berrabah from girl-group Sugababes which became Stryder’s second number 1.

Stryder started at the age of 14 on pirate radio sets in East London with other well known grime MCs such as Wiley and Dizzee Rascal. His stage name derives from the arcade game Strider which he played when he was young and from the nickname “Tinchy” given to him due to his short stature: his height at 5’1″ (1.55m) making him the shortest male artist ever to top the UK Top 40. Stryder made a number of appearances on Sky’s Channel U and BBC Radio 1Xtra taking part in freestyles, sometimes joined by his crew Ruff Sqwad. He was also part of a line-up at The O2 arena 3D ELEKTRO race that included Caspa and Rusko, Frankmusik, High Contrast and Dancing Robot Music. Stryder was part of well-known grime crew Roll Deep for a while, featuring on some songs including “U Were Always”, which was released years later on Roll Deep’s compilations album, Street Anthems.

Tinnie Tempah at Manx Telecom Isle of Man Bay Festival 2011. More about him?

As written before I am honoured to be part of the team which develops the online promotion and social media marketing strategy for Manx Telecom Isle of Man Bay Festival 2011 which will take place in June. Details here. Tinnie Tempah was announced two days ago as headliner for the Saturday, 18th of June. I selected few details about this artist and … let’s meet there. On the festival’s Facebook page – facebook.com/iombayfestival will be organised competitions 2 win weekend passes for the festival. Please like it if you didn’t do it by now.

Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu, (born 7 November 1988),better known by his stage name Tinie Tempah, is a two-time BRIT award winning English rapper from Plumstead, South London. His debut album, Disc-Overy, debuted at number one on 10 October 2010 and was preceded by the number-one singles “Pass Out” and “Written in the Stars” and the top-five singles “Frisky” and “Miami 2 Ibiza”.

In 2006, Tinie gained a great deal of airplay on British music TV channel, Channel U, for his song ‘Wifey Riddim’ and then in late 2007, Tinie Tempah collaborated on a track with grime artists Agent X and Ultra. The song was titled “Perfect GCD Hood Economics Room 147”. He toured with Chipmunk in February 2009.

When scout and music consultant Jade Richardson saw Tinie performing at the 2009 Wireless Festival she called Parlophone Records president Miles Leonard saying: “You’ve got to check out this guy Tinie Tempah. He came on at lunchtime and there’s about 1,000 kids screaming for him. He’s only put out one independent release and he’s got this huge audience.” Leonard and A&R Nathan Thompson visited Tinie and his manager Dumi at their studio a few weeks later and were hugely impressed to hear about the work they had already done in developing Tinie’s career and by the ambitious plans they had for its future. Leonard told HitQuarters: “I thought it was incredible that an artist and manager were doing so much so soon with so little … That impressed as much as the music.”
Tinie announced his signing to Parlophone in October 2009 by running a competition on his blog, with the winner invited to High Tea at Claridges to celebrate the deal.
