With no fewer than 14 number one singles behind them, only Elvis and The Beatles have had more. They hold the record to this day for the most consecutive number one singles in the UK and are the UK’s biggest selling band, beating Coldplay, over the past ten years with a very impressive 7 No. 1 albums.
Managed by Louis Walsh, Westlife is comprised of Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, Shane Filan and their huge popularity has never waned since their formation in 1998. The boys regularly tour the UK’s largest arenas and guest on countless television shows. They were classed the fourth most hard-working music artist in the UK last year. Hit songs including ‘Flying Without Wings’, ‘Fool Again’, ‘My Love’, ‘What Makes A Man’, Uptown Girl’ and ‘World Of Our Own’ are among the many familiar favourites that have kept the band at the top for so long – a real feat in this disposable pop age. Tinchy Stryder will be one of the artists which will put on fire the scene on the 18th of June at Manx Telecom Bay Festival 2011. More details about the festival and tickets here.
Kwasi Danquah (born 14 September 1986), better known by his stage name Tinchy Stryder, is a British rapper.
He rose to popularity with the song “Take Me Back” which peaked at Number 3 on the UK Singles Chart in January 2009. He then released the aptly named song “Number 1″, (a collaboration with N-Dubz) which entered the UK chart at Number 1 on 26 April 2009. Stryder lately released “Never Leave You” with Amelle Berrabah from girl-group Sugababes which became Stryder’s second number 1.
Stryder started at the age of 14 on pirate radio sets in East London with other well known grime MCs such as Wiley and Dizzee Rascal. His stage name derives from the arcade game Strider which he played when he was young and from the nickname “Tinchy” given to him due to his short stature: his height at 5’1″ (1.55m) making him the shortest male artist ever to top the UK Top 40. Stryder made a number of appearances on Sky’s Channel U and BBC Radio 1Xtra taking part in freestyles, sometimes joined by his crew Ruff Sqwad. He was also part of a line-up at The O2 arena 3D ELEKTRO race that included Caspa and Rusko, Frankmusik, High Contrast and Dancing Robot Music. Stryder was part of well-known grime crew Roll Deep for a while, featuring on some songs including “U Were Always”, which was released years later on Roll Deep’s compilations album, Street Anthems.

Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu, (born 7 November 1988),better known by his stage name Tinie Tempah, is a two-time BRIT award winning English rapper from Plumstead, South London. His debut album, Disc-Overy, debuted at number one on 10 October 2010 and was preceded by the number-one singles “Pass Out” and “Written in the Stars” and the top-five singles “Frisky” and “Miami 2 Ibiza”.
In 2006, Tinie gained a great deal of airplay on British music TV channel, Channel U, for his song ‘Wifey Riddim’ and then in late 2007, Tinie Tempah collaborated on a track with grime artists Agent X and Ultra. The song was titled “Perfect GCD Hood Economics Room 147″. He toured with Chipmunk in February 2009.
When scout and music consultant Jade Richardson saw Tinie performing at the 2009 Wireless Festival she called Parlophone Records president Miles Leonard saying: “You’ve got to check out this guy Tinie Tempah. He came on at lunchtime and there’s about 1,000 kids screaming for him. He’s only put out one independent release and he’s got this huge audience.” Leonard and A&R Nathan Thompson visited Tinie and his manager Dumi at their studio a few weeks later and were hugely impressed to hear about the work they had already done in developing Tinie’s career and by the ambitious plans they had for its future. Leonard told HitQuarters: “I thought it was incredible that an artist and manager were doing so much so soon with so little … That impressed as much as the music.”
Tinie announced his signing to Parlophone in October 2009 by running a competition on his blog, with the winner invited to High Tea at Claridges to celebrate the deal. Read More…

Following hot on the heels of the success of this year’s Manx Telecom Bay Festival the organisers have announced that they have already finalised the line-up for next year’s ‘X Factor Meets Britain’s Got Talent’. With over 8,000 in attendance this year the organisers have been inundated with requests asking when next years will be on sale as no one wants to miss out.
Jonathan Irving co-event promoter with his son Jamie said: “The Father’s Day spectacular starring Olly Murs, Diversity, Danyl Johnson, Signature, Stavros Flately etc went down a storm. I was backstage looking out at the audience and the excitement and enthusiasm for the whole event was like nothing I had seen before. So we decided to strike while the iron was still hot and build on the success by releasing next year’s tickets next week, which is again on Father’s Day.”
Jamie Irving said: “we decided to make it even more fun and keep the interest going right through. Therefore based on the fact that no one had heard of Olly Murs or Danyl Johnson at this time last year we have decided that whoever finishes 2nd and 3rd on this year’s X Factor they will be appearing on the Bay Festival stage on 19th June next year. So watch closely! In addition we are excited to say we have booked the winners of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, Spelbound plus runners up Twist and Pulse and to compere and perform his own inimitable act will be impersonator and comedian and BGT finalist Paul Burling.
Jamie concluded by saying that: “the one and only Stacey Solomon will also be performing and to make it even more exciting we are asking people to vote for their most popular artist from this year’s XF/BGT. Whoever wins the popular vote will be invited back as part of the line-up for the Father’s Day extravaganza. People will be able to vote next week through our website: www.bayfestival.im “
Tickets for the X Factor/BGT will go on sale next Thursday 8th July from 8am to those who have purchased any tickets for this year’s Manx Telecom Bay Festival.
